The Unspoken Word

I thought the project as a whole was a great experience not only creating hte notecards, but also seeing what others had to say. Some of the notecards were great and truly interesting. Each one was an individual like the person who made it and showed how the person felt about certain topics. Also, I think the notecards show a persons personality. If you saw the notecard and then met the person who wrote the card, I feel you could already know what the person was like. I learned alot about visual rhetoric from this project. I felt that doing this project showed that pictures can show more than words can express. If someone puts up a picture about something and it is a strong picture, it can not be explained in words, so I felt that this project really did show that. Also, it helped show us how to interpret pictures into a meaning. I gained alot from this project because it helped show me, like I said before, how to interpret pictures into meaning and also showed how people felt around Clemson about different subjects.

Clemson Basketball

For the first time since 1998, the Clemson Tigers made the NCAA tournament with a some what strong regular season and a very strong showing in the ACC tournament. As we all saw though on Friday night, their magical run to the dance died at the hands of Villanova. It was the usual theme for a Clemson basketball game, score early and die late. They came out and at one point were up by 15 points, but Villanova climbed back like every other team Clemson plays and pulled out a from behind victory. The Tigers had a good season and I hope to see them continue their development into a more competitive team, where they will one day win the ACC and who knows, maybe even a national championship.

The Wall O'Notecards

We recently created a wall of notecards for our english class. I thought the project was fun and interesting and the people who helped me complete it also liked it. When the day came to put up the notecards in the studio, I was very excited to see what other notecards said. Some were funny and some were sad. Some looked like people took a long time to make, while others looked like they just made it in a second. Because of the variety of efforts though, I think it makes the wall more real because in real life there are people who put tons of effort into stuff and others who don't. Overall I think the wall was a great project and experience.

Pirates 2008

Since I was born, I have been bread to be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan and let me tell you, it hasn't been the best time to be a fan. I always dream of the day the Pirates will once again reach their peak of the 1960's and 1970's. The way things are going though, they will never make it. The Pirates come into 2008 with new management, but no new results. The team had a sub par off season once again and returns mainly the same roster from last year that lost 94 games last year. I really don't know what has changed here. They say we underachieved and that we have the potential. When is this potential going to show. I WANT A WINNING TEAM. Ithas been 15 years since I have seen them win and I am getting tired of it. Other teams do it with our salary, so why can't we?

Syracuse Basketball

Coming into this season, I thought I was going to see some magic out of the Orange that I hadn't seen since 2003. They have two great freshman, Donte Green and Johnny Flynn, and also a sophomore star in Paul Harris. This lineup is very similar to Syracuse's 2003 national title team when freshmen Carmelo Anthony and Gerry McNamara worked along with sophomore sensation Hakim Warrick. Melo and company did it back in 2003, so why couldn't it happen in 2008? One thing different is that Donte Green thinks he is a superstar and a master three point shooter. He averages a ton of threes and makes very little of them. I think if he can either get his shot down, or stop shooting as much, Syracuse will have a shot next year, because this year was obviously not their year.

Thank you for smoking

In class, we watched the movie Thank You For Smoking. The movie is about a man named Nick Naylor who is very good at the art of argument. This movie is good for us to watch because it related to what we awere doing in class. We saw what Naylor did and we can take some of his actions and use them for our own argument in class. I also enjoy the movie very much so I was excited that we were able to watch it in class.
